sample sale saturday UPDATED

Surprise, a Saturday post + super awesome deals for my favorite readers!!

I have several boxes of jewelry samples that I have decided to part with rather than, well, sit in a box.  Most of the pieces are samples from my showroom.  They are all in good condition.  Some have stickers on the inside (not visible when worn), or minor surface scratches.  They are all pieces that I would personally wear.  I, unfortunately, only have so many arms, and there are only so many days in the year...or I already have the same piece.  There aren't any missing beads, or anything that would make the piece unwearable, they are just not in perfect, untouched condition.

To make things easy, and hopefully enticing, everything is only $20!!  The pictures above are of the exact pieces.  If you have any questions about the condition of a particular piece, just email me.  Each piece is first come first serve, as is, and final sale.  I will try to mark them as sold as they go, so no one gets disappointed, but, believe it or not, I am not constantly sitting in front of my computer, and the item might be sold.  If you really love something, you better jump on it quick!!!

UPDATE:
WOWZERS!!!  You guys are amazing and FAST!  In less than 24 hours, almost half of the items are gone!!!  I am going to do my best to keep up with the updates so no one gets dissapointed by a soldout item (I hate that), but like I said, your guys are fast, and I'm off to the beach for the day...
THANK YOU for your orders!!  The extra space in my office thanks you too!!
Have a great weekend~xoShelly

i kind of need these

and I might get them for free!!!

I've had my eye on these cuties for a while now, but I just haven't been able to fork over more than $100 for a pair of rain boots, or maybe I couldn't choose a color.  Either way, I don't have any...and I NEED a pair.

Linda at Rose a la Mode is giving away TWO pairs for her Blogiverary!  The winner gets 1 pair of Hunter Boots for themselves, and 1 pair to giveaway.  How fun is that?

I want yellow.
What color do you want?  When I win, I'll be doing a giveaway too!

Wait, wait, there's more.  Jill at Jill's Good Life for Less is also doing a giveaway for a Kate Spade "make a day of it" bracelet, and while I do LOVE the bracelet, I have a very good friend who totally deserves this bracelet, and I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to win it for her!

nail files

Hello GS Lillian lovers! My friend (and jewelry designer extraordinaire) Shelly has agreed to let me post on her blog! I can’t even think of a better day to do so than on THURSDAY LATELY! Thanks Shelly!!

Every year around mid July, when the oh-so-glorious summer sun is beating down, stores begin to introduce new fall merchandise. While I love to peruse* the racks and see what new styles, designs and colors are being used, I’m usually not quite ready to make any purchases. How could I? It’s 96 degrees outside!! Ultimately I blame it on heat stroke and head home with shopping bags dangling off of my arms.

In the past I would succumb to the new goods and make one or two or twenty-four purchases during this time. I, my friends (is it too soon to call you all friends?), am an impulse shopper…insert dramatic piano music here…the WORST kind of shopper there is. I have no control when it comes to clothing. Shoes, accessories, beauty products, and stuff in general I don’t have to have like I have to have my clothing. My lack of control is not exclusive to the fall season, in fact it’s happens with any item of clothing that I haven’t seen before. While the economy has been up and down for a while I’ve been very lucky (and thankful Thursday) that I haven’t been affected… until now.

This year (as of two months ago) I’m saving. So far I’ve done a pretty good job! I’ve only made one long sleeve purchase (it’s a ¾ sleeve so it doesn’t really count and it’s a really awesome vintage burnout Beastie Boys shirt, so it double doesn’t really count). This year (as of two months ago) I’m fully committed to saying BYE BYE BYE** to BUY BUY BUY. I’m letting Fall inspire me instead of take over me as wait for sales to pop up. I’m head over heels for the colors Fall 2011 is bringing us. Dusty pinks, purples and greys have my toes curled with excitement. I’m dying fill my shelves with emerald, navy, and rose but I made a promise to myself that now is the time to save for a house instead of a  Vince Sequined Sweater

But promises always have loopholes, right?

RIGHT! Currently I am completely obsessed with nail polish. I’m obsessed to the point where I may or may not have*** suggested to my boss that we replace all of our Pantone Chips with the entire Essie catalog. Maybe I can’t buy those new fall colors I’m craving but I can still wear them! And wear them I do! As an added bonus this loophole also makes me really super cool in the eyes of my four nieces! I think I read somewhere that your nieces judge which Aunt is their favorite by how many different shades of nail polish they own**** (My one nephew already thinks I’m the coolest because we have the same Birthday). WIN-WIN!

Now while some of you may be thinking I’m an incredible problem solver, others are probably thinking that I’m delusional. Yes, I’m delusional, but spending $30 to refresh the ol’ polish collection is way better than spending $345 on one sweater that will lay in my closet only to be worn twice because I can’t decide if sequined golden sweater is a style I can “pull it off”.

So now Ladies, Gentleman, and my Sister (who better show these pictures to the girls) I now present to you the colors that will eventually become my Fall wardrobe:
Side Note (I opted to call this Hang Nail but alas, did not): I was not born with the Painting of the Nails Gene. My friend Jess has the Painting of the Nails Gene. She could totally complete the perfect manicure in the back of car that has no spark plugs while off-roading through the roughest terrain known to man*****. I am truly horrible at painting my own nails. You guys this was the best job I have EVER done. I’m really proud of myself! Even though it got a little rocky around the edges (I used 4 Q-tips to clean up) and I had to re-do my pointer finger on my right hand 3 times.

Side Side Note: If I had more fingers I would have added the following three colors. I am equally obsessed with these guys as I am with the others.

AND FINALLY: I did this in bed this morning. I put a piece of paper towel on a clipboard and used that as my surface. My boyfriend was convinced I was going to spill nail polish all over our white comforter. I want him to know that the comforter is nail polish stain free!! It is not however highlighter stain free….

are you as excited as me?

30 for 30 look 15
I think Bex is announcing who won this colorful little necklace today, and I can't wait to see who won!  I'm almost as excited that I only have 15 more outfits to come up with.  If you hadn't noticed I threw a few things out the window...

No shopping?  Was I I was crazy to think this was actually a possibility.
Limit my shoe options?  Also complete craziness.

smarty pants

Remember J Crew's ad campaign where everyone had on oversized and slightly awkward glasses?  Well, I finally decided to jump on the band wagon just in time for back to school.  I still like to pretend I go back to school every fall which necessitates a new wardrobe.  So last Friday I was perusing** the jcrew.com sale section, when I got completely distracted with all the models wearing nerd glasses.  I knew exactly who I needed to turn to to get more info.
Here's how it played out:

me:  are nerd glasses really cool?
lisa:  ummm...YES!!
me:  do you have some?
lisa: not yet
me:  where do you get them?
lisa:  ryan found some at urban outfitters
me:  wait, ryan's more hip than us?

The hunt was on, even an oppressive heatwave didn't slow us down.  Within 24 hours we both had nerd glasses.

**My sister just got back in town, and I'm already smarter.
I want you to be smarter too.
Did you know that peruse means to review in detail??
I thought it meant just to skim something.
You learn something new everyday...

not so fast

30 for 30 outfit 13
I kind of miss my little blog world over the weekend, but it just makes Monday a little better, right?

My infatuation with hot pink paired with black & white is slowly fading (as with all my obsessions), but I'm not ready to kick it to the curb yet.  This outfit was verging on a little too precious for me, so I toughened it up with my shark ring and studded pumps.  Pretty tough, huh?

all that glitters

...is not gold.  Sometimes it's silver, or bronze, or all 3 at once.
This outfit is completely over the top, even my skirt is sparkly.  And despite the fact that my necklace looks like I wadded up tin foil, it's actually a million super sparkly beads.

Today I'm linking up with Marie-Eve at A Pretty Nest for "What's in your bag?"
Wanna see what I tote around daily??  Of course you do...duh.
If you don't, read no further.

Bag:  Kate Spade (from TJ MAXX!?!?CLEARANCE!?!?)

The other stuff:

I keep my phone charger in here because I go into convulsions without my phone.

2.  BR Wallet
An oldie, but goodie

3.  Handicraft from Bali
I keep my receipts, coupons, and other little papers and cards in here.

4.  Handicraft from Thailand
The grocery store I go to uses these stupid coins for discounts...I keep them because I can get coffee for $0.78 with them.

I love these, but I have been contemplating some RB Aviators.

6.  My favorite necklace, well one of them.

7.  My current fav perfume.

I usually use my phone, but you never know when you need and extra camera.

This stuff is amazing.  Even after you wash your hands, it's still there!

10.  Tampons

11.  Purell

12.  Miniature Tweezers

13.  Notebook
For all my super important thoughts...

I didn't mean to buy this dress, in fact, I was headed out of BR when it practically threw itself at me.  It's a chaming little sucker and quickly convinced me to take it into the dressing room with it.  I was like, "but we just met", and it was all like, "just for a minute".  So I did.

30 for 30 look 11
Are you guys tired of this top yet?  I kind of am, but not as much as these shoes.
The 30 for 30 challenge was fun the first week, but at almost halfway through, it is becoming more of a challenge.  I'm not sure why I'm finding it so difficult.  I think it is probably that I am feeling sorry for all the other clothes and shoes that didn't get chosen.
If I decide to do this again, I'm definitely not going to limit my shoes.  Definitely not.

Pink & orange are dynamite together, a definite competitor to pink and b&w!  I love the snap detail on the back of this top.  From the front it looks pretty plain, so the snaps give it a little something extra.  On a side note, I don't know if I chose my shoes so wisely.  On one hand, I can wear these with everything...on the other, I have two pairs I haven't touched and I'm really not even sure what to do with.

my skirty little secret + an algebra lesson

...I don't own a maxi skirt.  I know, gasp.  I am hoping that this one makes it into my closet sooner than later.  The good news is that I was forced to look at this dress in a new light.  Now back to the bad news...

Not one of these items is on my 30 for 30 list...so I didn't get to wear this today except to snap a few pictures for Bloggers do it Better
To punish myself I did a little algebra.

Number of 30 for 30 items in this outfit = 0
On a comfort level scale of 1-10 this outfit = about 59
% sad I was not to get to wear this outfit = 234%
chance I will be wearing this outfit very soon = 100%

What?
My math is a little off?
And it's not even algebra?!

Well, I did my best to impart a math lesson on you.
There *might* be better forums for that.

on my radar : black & tan

I am quite enjoying the summer, and I wouldn't want to wish away a second of it, but I can't help but dream about my second favorite season...fall.

While I am excited to see the continued color explosion on runways and in editorials, I'm thinking about what I can carry over from spring and summer what I want to add to the mix.

I love pairing opposites, and I adore this feminine take on menswear.

I'm not sure if these glasses would make me any smarter, but I'd definitely look the part.  Maybe.

A simple staple in my wardrobe.

So thrilled that this skirt comes in tall!

I've been coveting this little number for a while now.

stranger things have happened

When I wore this outfit the other day, as I was spaced out in my own little world, when a complete stranger came up to me and said,
"I just want you to know how beautiful you are."
You can bet, I'll be wearing this again.

I'm kidding.
