I take it all back & admit defeat...only for a few days though

First of all, I have to give credit where credit is due.  Remember when I wrote this scathing post?  Well, not only did Kendi send me a sweet email, this skirt arrived on my doorstep yesterday, barely 2 weeks after whining about expressing concern at it's "out of stock" status.  So, way to go Kendi and Shop Ruche, you have totally redeemed yourselves, kind of.

I really wanted to participate in the 30 for 30 challenge with Kendi because she is kind of  my idol.  She said there were no rules and you couldn't mess this up unless you burned all your clothes.  I didn't do that, however, she totally underestimated my inability to pass up a great deal.  On one of the very first days of the challenge, she wore this...which was only the beginning of my demise because soon after, JCrew had 30% off sale, and nothing gets me to click threw an email blast faster than 30% off and not too soon after, this showed up on my doorstep.  40% off sale at BR did nothing to help the cause either...

Truth be told, I think the real problem is that Kendi started the challenge in the middle of the month.  Who does this?  I can't possibly start something so life changing just willy nilly in the middle of the month!?! Therefore, I am going to do a do-over because it was kind of cheating of her, and I'm starting MY 30 for 30 challenge on July 1st.
I just purchased a whole new wardrobe, it should be here by then.  Wait, am I totally missing the point of this challenge??

PS (to Kendi)  Does it creep you out that I totally copied your outfit, Single White Female style?
Thought so, it creeps me out a little bit too.

PS (to everyone else)  If I so much as utter the word "shopping" I give you permission to do something really mean to me.  Like post a comment that says "you totally look like a dog face in this picture"  But, guess what, the joke will be on you...I love dogs.
Just kidding.
I'm going to do my best.  If JCrew and Target have to close due to my lack of support, my apologies.

30~30 Challenge Day 9 ~ Backwards Day!

Remember in grade school when they had "backwards day" and you got be SO CRAZY and wear your clothes backwards?

Say what?
You didn't do that at your school??  What is wrong with my parents?

Anyway, we did have "silly" days where we were bribed to behave or sell crap to earn the right to wear our PJ's or clothes backwards, and possibly have a pizza party.  And guess what, I was pretty awesome this week and sold lots of jewelry and got to wear my shirt backwards today.  How sweet is that?

Or maybe I cut the itchy tag out of this shirt and accidentally put it on backwards, and then decided I kind of liked it better that way.

PS I treated myself to pizza for lunch...

30~30 Challenge Day 5: Dreamy

Dreamy is all I can say about this dress.

It is so comfortable and I kind of think Monet painted it just for me.  I am going to be perfectly honest with you though, this is a little bit of a cheater post for the 30~30 challenge though.
It's true, I have never worn it before, and I purchased it BEFORE the challenge started, but it has not been laying in wait in the depths of my closet.  I bought it this weekend.

I am able to justify the post however.
I found it smashed in the corner of the clearance rack at Banana Republic, so I saved it from the BR closet.  (I'm sure some other shopper was trying to hide it from me until she could buy it for herself...I know this only because I may, or may not have used this tactic myself).

PS  I am sorry Other Shopper, I know how disappointing it is to go back to purchase the dress you sneakily hid from every other shopper to have it disappeared.
PPS Next time, try slipping it in with the wrong sizes, or in a completely different part of the store, like  the men's section...that works better.

30~30 Challenge Day Four: Midi Love?

I wasn't sure if I was on board with the midi trend, but when I found this skirt (after searching forever for a red, pocketed skirt) at the Goodwill, I decided to give it a try.  At the very least, I thought I could hem it to a more appealing length.

I'll be honest, I do feel a little 1982 Sears Catalog in this skirt, especially since I am almost positive that's when this skirt first appeared, but I also feel, dare I say, a bit chic.   And while these shoes get regular rotation in my wardrobe, this t-shirt was in need of rescue after months of sitting in my drawer, tags still intact.

I'm off to spend the afternoon at an outdoor cafe in Paris.
Ok, maybe it's just my local Starbucks, but I'm going to pretend I am in Paris.
I might even order in French...yep, I'm just that hip.

30~30 Challenge: Hola Hombre!

err...ombre

Yet another little orphan from my closet has been rescued by the 30~30 challenge at Kendi Everyday.  This J Crew skirt has two siblings, "Navy" and "Olive" (who make frequent appearances), sadly, "Mushroom" ("Mauve"???  She doesn't even have a name she's so ophaned) has never seen the light if day...until now.
I may, or may not have worn this t-shirt 3 days in a row, however.  How I managed to keep it clean, I'll never know...or maybe it was photo-shopped...who knows.

30~30 Challenge: Triple Threat

I've had this J Crew top in my closet for several months now.  I've always loved it, but I just wasn't quite sure what to do with it, until this little skirt from the Target clearance rack made it into my basket the other day.  I knew when I first read about the lace challenge at Everybody Everywear, this is what I wanted to wear, but it wasn't until the neon + neutral challenge at Pretty Shiny Sparkly that I knew exactly what I was going to do.  So there you have it...
It meets my 30~30 challenge, as I have never worn the top or skirt
It meets the lace challenge, with neon pink lace no less
and
It falls right in line with neon+neutral...
I triple dog dare you to challenge that!

30 for 30 Challenge

I have seen the 30 for 30 Challenge with Kendi Everyday just about everywhere, and I have been trying to decide if I wanted to participate...and the verdict is, I do!  However, I am going to challenge myself in a way that I feel that I need to be challenged.  First of all while I adore travelling, I do not adore having limited clothing choices.  It never fails that I will have left behind my favorite shoes, the perfect belt, or a much needed sweater.
every.single.time.
I'm not a fan of suffering needlessly (especially when I can clearly see my favorite belt right there in my closet), and as I was going through my closet to pick my 30 items, I started to notice that I have tons of clothes that I have never even worn.  I don't know how this happened, but the number was well over 30!  I'm not proud of this, but I am determined to redeem myself (if only in my own eyes).

So for the next 30 days, I am going to wear at least 1 item from my closet that I have never worn (or, can't remember wearing).  I think the real challenge will be photographing myself every day because that involves brushing my hair daily, but I believe I am up for the challenge, are you?

PS.  I am going to try and do the no shopping part of the challenge too, no guarantees.
