that's how I roll.
Today's challenge was menswear. The main rule was that you had to wear a tie. I didn't have a tie so I ran to the local goodwill to see what I could get my hands on.
While I've never had the desire to wear a tie, I have always been enamoured with all the fun patterns and colors available, this was no different at Goodwill. I couldn't decide on one tie I liked the best and had several in my hands when I realized I had a couple that paired nicely together...then it struck me! Sew 2 together and make a belt!! I seriously couldn't get home fast enough.
I'm kind of crazy about how this turned out on so many levels. I love anything tied in a bow (although this look is equally adorable tied in a simple knot) and I super loved the mixing of patterns.
I also picked up some miss matched stripes that I can't wait to try out as well. The possibilities are endless...and at $3 a piece, this is a cheap and easy DIY thrill!

Love the tie as a belt - great look! x
ReplyDeleteOkay...you win. I used my tie as a belt but your color mix, combining of the two ties and overall coolness with the umbrella beats me hands down! How do you make that cool collage of your pictures?

I love the tie belt I recently did the same thing. I also used the scarp to make a bow for a head band. Great minds think a like.

I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS! I bought an amazing vintage tie the other week for $0.50 and was planning on using it as a belt but I LOVE that you put two together so you could actually bow them up. So inspirational!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea with the ties!
ReplyDeleteTying the tie around your waist is so creative. Absolutely love it!

ReplyDeleteLove that Goodwill tie. I'm going to have to start giving the tie section a once over. And I am soooo feeling how you took it a step further and got creative by sewing the ties together. Such a great DIY project. I would love to see a tutorial!!
