Twist the Trend ~ dress + blazer

I'm not always the best at getting the most versatility out of my wardrobe, so when I saw this, I immediately thought of a few pieces in my closet that might get a little more wear with a little mix and match.

Meet my Twin!?

I'm really not sure what the point of this post is other than not wanting to feel like I wasted my time taking pictures.  When I got dressed, I really liked this outfit, however my mirror must have been deceiving me because when I saw the pictures I thought otherwise...which is why I had to double up the few pictures that I didn't hate.  I don't even know what I'm doing in the picture above?!?
And check this out...
Look ma, no feet!
Which is why I am carrying my shoes??

Okay, okay, there is really only one of me, and I'm still searching for my feet...

Inspiration Monday

I'm linking up with Two Birds again this week for Inspiration Monday.  Although adorable, other than wearing a tie, I didn't take too much from the original look.  It's been so gloomy here of the last week, and I am so ready for summer that I could barely muster a smile for these pictures...sorry about that!

Don't forget to check out everyone else at Two Birds.

PS Speaking of birds, do you follow GSL on twitter?  If not, you should!
Starting tomorrow I will be sending out "Tuesday Tweet Treats" from GS Lillian.  Don't miss out on extra special promotions just for Twitter followers!

UPDATE:  Also linking up with Spunky Chateau!  Now go see everyone else's awesome finds!!

I really love it when people send me pictures of themselves wearing my jewelry,
it warms my heart just a little bit.

Lately I've been having having a little thing (yes, I know I have lots of little things going on) with black and turquoise.  I really love the way black makes the turquoise pop, if you saw my Thursday Lately post, you can see I was sporting the look myself.

Thank you Holly for sending this in!

TGI5way ~ Abigail Necklace

Better late, than never...it's TGI5way!
I really enjoy the challenge of this feature, so I didn't want to miss another week.

This week I chose to feature my Abigail Necklace, while it is definitely a favorite of fashion editors (have you seen the press this necklace has gotten??), customers, and me alike, it is a little tricky to style to to it's shear size.  The purpose of this feature it to find things that I have in my closet and make the chosen piece work for a variety of looks.  I personally like it best with simpler pieces such as a tank top, but as you can see it plays nicely with outfits from office to weekend.

Denim on Denim
I for one, have yet to fully embrace the blue denim on denim trend.  However, I don't mind white denim mixed with blue.  The denim shirt comes in and out of vogue so often that I'd venture to say everyone has one hidden in their closet somewhere.  When summer comes around, you'll find me in white jeans 9 out of 10 times.

The maxi dress.
Another favorite this season.  This particular dress is about four years old, but I'm still crazy about it!  I love the pop of color on an otherwise neutral dress.

Wear it to work.
I've never worked in an office, but if I did, this is what I think I'd like to wear.  The colorful pattern of the skirt and a cheery necklace would stand out amongst the standard neutral fare (that I am envisioning for an office...I have no idea, ha-ha).

Play.
This is probably my favorite look, and what you'd most likely find me in.  It's just simple, and I'm loving turquoise + black lately.

Date night.
If you don't have a simple white dress for the summer.  Go get one now!  I snatched this up at Walmart for $14, and it's the the perfect summer dress.  Throw on a cardigan and some cute wedges, and your set for a lovely evening!

Have I convinced you that you NEED this necklace yet???
Get yours here!

Cheap and Easy thrills...

that's how I roll.

Today's challenge was menswear.  The main rule was that you had to wear a tie.  I didn't have a tie so I ran to the local goodwill to see what I could get my hands on.

While I've never had the desire to wear a tie, I have always been enamoured with all the fun patterns and colors available, this was no different at Goodwill.  I couldn't decide on one tie I liked the best and had several in my hands when I realized I had a couple that paired nicely together...then it struck me!  Sew 2 together and make a belt!!  I seriously couldn't get home fast enough.

I'm kind of crazy about how this turned out on so many levels.  I love anything tied in a bow (although this look is equally adorable tied in a simple knot) and I super loved the mixing of patterns.
I also picked up some miss matched stripes that I can't wait to try out as well.  The possibilities are endless...and at $3 a piece, this is a cheap and easy DIY thrill!

Now check out other bloggers doing it better here!

Thursday Lately + GS Lillian giveaway!!

Untitled from Shelly Saber on Vimeo.

Hi everyone!  Thank you for stopping by, and bearing with me and my video.  It was definitely outside my comfort zone, which is why I rushed a bit, and forgot a few things!

So here you go.
First of all, I forgot to tell you how I get the coupons I mentioned...
I believe I get the coupons because I shop WAY too much for joining store loyalty programs (with the exception of Kohl's...I think those come to the person who lived here before me).  Almost every store has a loyalty program these days, just hop on their website, and sign up!

And for the giveaway...from GS Lillian!  (Yeah, I didn't even mention my own company...duh)
So here are the details:

If I get at least 25 comments on this post by noon next Wednesday, May 25th, I will give away 1 item (ANYTHING you want!) from my website.

Go check it out, and tell me what you would like to get for FREE in the comments of this post.
Then tell your friends, remember, there must be 25 comments!

Extra entries are available too...
{Please leave a note in the comments section if you do any of the above so I don't miss you additional entry, that would be sad...}

I will put everyone's name in a basket and do a live(ish) drawing on next week's Thursday Latelies post!
I can't wait to see what you'll pick out, Good Luck!!

Thrifty Thursday

I've been having so much fun this week joining in on all the blogger games.
And, after linking up with a couple other blogs, I have gotten introduced to a whole new set of bloggers...the thrifty kind.  Although I have tons of friends who love to thrift shop, I personally have never had much luck.  That, however, has changed thanks to Meagan at Spunky Chateau.  After discovering her over at Two Birds, I did a little perusing of her site and discovered this post with 15 tips for thrift shopping.

Tips in hand, I decided to give it one more try...and I actually found a few little gems!

First of all, how amazing is this pink blazer??  I have a little bit of a crush on pink at the moment, and I was planning a trip into the city to grab this one from Zara, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to find the one above...in my size...AND 50% off!!

I also snagged this adorable little hat, which I was so grateful for after I had a complete fail at this hair tutorial.
I may never shop retail again!
(a complete lie...Goodwill has nothing on you, by beloveds, Target, JCrew & Anthropologie)

When I was in high school I was mildly obsessed with painting my nails.  In fact, I believe I may have recieved a detention for painting my nails in class my senior year.  Back then, painting my nails was a daily occurance, and while I no longer have time for such luxuries, I have recently reaquainted myself with nail polish.  I love all of the colors that are now available and I especially love playing with several at once.  After seeing ombre nails here, here, and here, I decided to give it a try...
I'm smitten.

Target Tuesday ~ Navy + Orange

It's no secret how much I LOVE Target, I'm there twice as much as the grocery store.  So when I stumbled upon Target Tuesday at fabulous but evil, I immediately started on the above collage.  As you can tell, I had to limit myself by color because I assure you there would be many more items on my wish list!

Just like riding a bike.

I can't tell you how long it's been since I've sewn a single stitch, but after searching high and low for a few simple pocketed skirts (that are nowhere to be found beyond my imagination), I knew it was time to get reacquainted with Mr. Singer.

Although I wasn't sure I even remembered how to use my sewing machine, everything came back to me in an instant, and in no time at all I was all set up and sewing away.  I'll be perfectly honest, sewing isn't my favorite thing to do.  I really don't have the patience required for most projects, however, this skirt was so easy to make, and was finished in less than 2 hours!

Here are a few completely usefulless tips...
for more useful tips, check here or here
Now put your hair in a pretty bun, take that bike for a spin, or just put your hands in your pockets...
because you just make a skirt with pockets!!!

**take note girls, next time I invite you over for coffee,
make sure I cleaned out that creamer.

PS.  Can you tell I'm having a moment with the new bun look??

Inspiration Monday

Inspiration Monday

Have I mentioned how much I love blogs yet???
There are so many amazing, creative, and beautiful girls out there sharing interesting content, and creating fun challenges that inspire people from all over the world to get to know each other a little better.  I, for one, always hated "get to know you" games at school and work.  I didn't like playing silly games and I was usually the sour puss in the corner of the room hating every minute.  Yup, I'm that girl.

But play dress up with other like-minded girls, I'm in!
Find a new hidden gem of a blog, count me in again!!

The girls over at two birds have instigated "inspiration monday".
And really, who doesn't need a little inspiration on Monday?
This is definitely a look I would not have pulled together without a little inspiration!  If you haven't already checked it out, hop on over to see how everyone else interperated the look!

got to have it. now.

Hi!
{Sorry for the late post, I'm sure you have been on pins and needles waiting for this..ha-ha}

Have you ever woke up thinking about something you had seen?  It's sad, but that's how I start most mornings, and this morning it was actually two things.  This first was the necklace featured in this post, the second was this pair of shoes.  I know what I am about to tell you will seem hard to believe, but I swear it is true.  Not 2 seconds after I told myself I could have the shoes the next time endless had a sale, my phone chimed, and low and behold...there was an email from endless!!!  20% off!!  Now that's some serious manifestation girls.

Now for the necklace.  I've seen this necklace, and many similar, all over the place in the last few months, and for some reason it popped into my head this morning, so I decided I had to have it. today.  As soon as I brushed my teeth, and purchased the above shoes, I scrambled down to my basement totally awesome studio/work space, and made myself a new necklace.
I'll make one for you too!  And in honor of my 20% discount on my shoes, I'll share the love and and give you 20% off + free shipping!!

win~win wednesday / daisy necklace~home

First of all, THANK YOU to everybody who stopped by from EverybodyEverywear!!
This necklace is actually one of the older pieces in my collection, but I still love it.
I felt pretty awkward taking pictures of myself (that's why I had my best buddy with me), hopefully I will get more comfortable with it, because I am loving this little blog of mine.

After my little fashion shoot, I was driving home and I passed this adorable little home for sale, just steps from the beach.

I'm going to have to sell quite a few necklaces to snap this gem up, but I'm willing to give it a try!

That's where you come in...
Today I'm offering an awesome discount on my Daisy Necklace, so you can have one too.

Twist~the~Trend : Floral

My first outfit post.
I wanted to participate in Everybody Everywhere's floral challenge, and while I have numerous floral skirts, dresses, and tops, none felt quite right.  I also knew I needed a twist~the~trend post for today, so when my GS Lillian Daisy Necklace caught my eye, I knew exactly what I wanted to wear.

TGI~5way : Libby Necklace

TGI~5way my friends!

Once again I have dug (deep) into my closet to pull together 5 different looks for 1 piece from my collection.  I am trying to gather ideas for some of the trickier pieces I have designed for those of you who are interested in certain pieces, but just aren't quite sure how it will fit into your wardrobe.

I'm well aware that I have quite a colorful wardrobe to choose from (I'm guessing not everyone has a bright green blazer kicking around), but I think you'll notice the pieces are quite basic and found in most closets.

This outfit is pretty simple, and definitely one of my go to looks all summer long.  Like I mentioned above, you might not have green shorts, but this outfit is just as cute with khaki or navy shorts.  I have all the staple colors of shorts, so every year I try and pick one fun color to add to the mix.  Last year it was green, this year it's hot pink (on back order, boo...waiting patiently, J Crew).

I think this is a great look for casual Friday.  The dark jeans keep you polished, while the blazer helps the necklace have less of a "tribal" look.

Simple Summer.  Another thing I purchase each summer is a simple white dress.  They keep you cool on sweltering days and so easy just to throw on with a few accessories.

I'll be the first to admit, I don't love khaki's.  Mostly because the don't flatter me, but I also find them kind of blah.  I do, however, own a couple pairs (always searching for a pair the might look good).  To cheer myself up when I put these on, I like to add some serious color on other parts of my body.

Another easy day look.  I love white pants, so easy to pair with just about anything and always a polished look.

Don't forget, there are only a few days left for buy, one get one
Are you going to try the Libby Necklace out for yourself?
